We believe:
- Work is awesome! People need work. Adding value to your life and to the world via work is a Good Thing, full stop.
- Working with other people is great, and working for other people can be great. It’s often how you can make the biggest impact, there are plenty of good and caring bosses out there, and it means that you don’t have to define the value you’re going to add all by yourself.
- There’s important work to do! No matter how good the robots get, there will always be things where humans can and should add value, and things which are more meaningful when a human does them.
That said, we also believe:
- AI is going to change everything about work — first for knowledge workers, and ultimately for just about everyone. Remember: the AI we have now is the worst it’s ever going to be.
- What got you here won’t get you there: the skills required to succeed in an AI-first world are radically different than those required to play nicely in organizations in the Before Times. We will all have to adapt to survive, and thrive.
- Smaller and smaller teams will be able to create more and more value with AI assistance, and outsized gains will accrue to a very small number of people and organizations — specifically, those who have mastered the tools and understand how and when to use them.
- The worst place in the world to talk about any of these dynamics is LinkedIn. These changes are exciting but scary, and no one knows exactly how to play them, and LinkedIn is not the place for that kind of vulnerability.
Bottom line: We need a place where it’s safe to talk about how AI is going to change the future of work, and where like minded individuals can connect, share, create, work together and help each other navigate this crazy new landscape without all the corporate doublespeak and hustle porn.
If that sounds compelling, we’ll be on Slack, or send us mail. We’ll see you there!
